A new silver pied chick

A diverse group of youngsters just starting to feather out.
The red chick in the foreground clearly illustrates the colortaion found in purple chicks.
A mixed group that is feathered out and still on wire to prevent parasite infestation.

By the end of two months most of the youngsters show patterns in their plummage that enables them to be sexed.
The silver pieds present a special problem in sexing if there isn't enough color on their backs to identify the barring typically found on males. The alternative is to wait, just like we do with the white birds.
A group of youngsters between 5 and 6 months old.

A young cameo spalding in the fall of her first year.

It is not until the third year that a male has a full train.
